The Bloom pincushion is a lovely little project that invites you to experiment with different sizes and textures. With its short seams and compact size, it’s easy to carry with you – you can even stitch the whole thing by hand. Try making your flower pincushion from fabric scraps you have at home, or from pieces that hold special memories. Different combinations of prints, colours, and textures will give each Bloom its own unique character.

Fabric Recommendations & Requirements:
Small fabric pieces measuring approximately 4.7–6"/12–15 cm are all you need for this project. Cotton, linen, cotton-linen blends, and soft polyester fabrics all work well. This is also the perfect project for fabric scraps.
Accessories:
Stuffing: You’ll need approximately two handfuls of fibrefill. Alternatively, you can reuse leftover thread and yarn scraps as stuffing, giving even your smallest textile leftovers a new purpose.
Thread: A strong, non-stretch thread, such as sashiko thread, button thread, or doubled sewing thread. -
